The library was established by two generous grants from Hotel Care Community Projects, which is administered by the Independent Gaming Commission on behalibrarylf of the Australian Hotels Association and Clubs SA.

These grants would not have been possible without the generosity of hundreds of South Australian hotels with gaming machines. The first grant was in June 2000, the second in May 2002.

The Library is a showcase for the world-renowned Australian Craniofacial Unit. Consisting of academic journals, nylon models and an interactive multi-media display, the Library is a vitally important research centre for both the Australian Craniofacial Institute, and for doctors being trained at the Australian Craniofacial Unit.
Hundreds of academic journals collected by Mr David David and the Australian Craniofacial Unit over the last 25 years have been added to the library.

SKULLTo the best of our knowledge, the display of nylon skull models is the only such display in the world linked to an interactive multimedia display.

Researchers are able to refer from the models to a database of scans, photographs and research information.

The library serves two different purposes: research and promotion. The journals, books and academic papers are of primary interest to medical professionals. The collections, nylon models

and interactive multimedia equipment also give us a permanent and impressive display of the work of the Unit and Institute which we can show to donors and prospective sponsors.

The Foundation is currently developing a computer system which will allow doctors access to hundreds of research papers and articles, including the results of 25 years of research at the Australian Craniofacial Unit. Both published and unpublished papers will be available.

Library Patrons

We gratefully acknowledge the Library Patrons whose significant financial support maintains the Library as a centre of excellence in the training of craniofacial surgeons.
